Visitors to Europe’s largest consumer electronics show demoed the not-so-distant future, where the connected kitchen makes everyone a chef.

Bosch approached us with a unique challenge: Create a futuristic cooking experience that showcases how the Bosch cook processor and other future product seamlessly work together to make an effortless cooking experience for anyone.

Visitors use RFID enabled smart objects to cook a virtual meal and learn how Bosch’s future products work together to simplify everything from selecting a recipe and cooking your meal to cleaning up. Visitors move through a recipe by manipulating a 12-sided smart object to select functions like “chop” and “boil” which will all be handled by a single device in Bosch’s future kitchen. Visitors can even snap a QR code to save their favorite recipes for cooking at home later.

The Kitchen Stories and Bosch partnership was blended seamlessly to showcase the functions of the products with the digital recipe database of Kitchen Stories. Throughout the experience visitors are engage both with the steps to create a masterful dish as well as how to get there using the Bosch cook processor. Concluding the experience with a way to share the recipes as well as explore more.

A curated list of recipes from Kitchen Stories was selected based on 3 categories, Time it takes to make the meal, the type of meal you wish to make, and any diet restrictions that are needed. The recipes were then organized in a spreadsheet and edited down to align with the cooking experience of the Bosch cook processor.

Without a physical product to demo, animations were created for each cooking step to walk visitors to the booth through the cooking process for their selected meals. Each step in the “cooking” process showcased dishes and utensils replaced by the appliance as well as walked visitors through all of the features of the cook processor.

The experience begins with the selection of a recipe that suits the preferences of the visitor. Selection objects for meal type, time you have, and diet restrictions are selected by visitors to algorithmically narrow down recipe options to a single one. Lets get cooking!

Embodying the features of the Bosch cook processor, the control object allows visitors to follow the recipe steps by selecting the product features from one of the 12 available on the object. Designed with the intention of showcasing all of the cook processor features, visitors engage with each of them throughout the recipe interaction.
