As a continuation of the concept created for the Chicago 1:1 space, the Portland 1:1 space adapted the traditional apartment layout from the previous launch to a nearly completely open concept layout. Similar to Chicago, branded elements were dispersed throughout the space to using copper as a uniting identity.
Due to the lack of walls within the space, only one fitting room for customers was available. The large secondary room was converted to a group appointment room for and additional fitting rooms were added to the main space for overflow.
To help to divide up the large main space, a large copper fixture wardrobe was placed as an island within the space to create a visual separation between the fitting room and showroom. The floating fixture created privacy for the fitting rooms as well as act as attractor in the center of space for customers to browse Universal Standard merchandise.
AWAY | AT HOME
The overall inspiration for this design uses our brand philosophy of practical aspiration; by taking design elements that could often be associated with a high end luxury apartment and juxtaposing them in an environment that feels lived-in. The goal of the concept is to have guests feel a sense of welcome-wanderlust in these environments, and become completely comfortable in the ‘away’, that they feel at home.
